What If Africa Adopted The One Child Policy?

Contributed by Africa Assemble
The One Child Policy was an initiative introduced by China in the 1980s but was recently abolished in 2016 to curb the population growth of China. Though it eventually slowed down the birth rate and population of the country, it created its own issues, destabilizing the family structure of China. Since Africa will be having about 2 billion people before 2040, would this policy work for a continent that may not be prepared for it? What if all the African countries adopted the one child policy?
