Africa is blessed with natural resources ranging from crude oil to diamonds. However, since colonization, Africa has not been able to capitalize on its gifts. Instead of turning these resources to commodities, Africa exports them to other parts of the world and buy them back in the form of finished goods. As an example, diamonds are extracted from Congo, manufactured in Europe and sold back as diamond rings But what if Africa invested its time in manufacturing all its resources and increased its 2% of manufactured goods input into the world?
